Your Day at Tacoma Glassblowing Studio
Check-in (30 min before your appointment)
● Arrive 30 minutes early to check in, complete safety waivers, and choose your shape, pattern, and colors.
● Our gallery has plenty of samples and staff to help with design choices.
Glassblowing Experience (~30 minutes per person)
● Safety rules will be covered before entering the hotshop.
● Your instructor will guide you as you heat, apply colors, shape, and blow your glass piece.
● Your item goes into the annealer overnight for controlled cooling. (Colors won’t appear true until fully cooled!)

Experience the art of glass fusing–a process where layers of glass are melted together in a kiln to create stunning designs. Unlike glassblowing, fusing is not hot!
At Tacoma Glass Gallery & Fusing Studio, you’ll design and assemble your own fused glass piece in a relaxed, welcoming environment. Work at your own pace with up to 2 hours of studio time. All supplies, tools, and instruction are included, with optional add-ons available.
Your finished piece will be ready for pickup in one week (shipping available). Payment is required at booking when reserving online.
What You Can Make
All projects start with a clear, flat tile. A 6” x 6” tile is available year-round, while other project options rotate seasonally. Our workshops are open design, with seasonal and themed examples for inspiration.

You’ll have access to a vibrant selection of glass, including granulated frit, stringers, flat glass, and pre-fused dots. Our inventory is always evolving to offer fresh and creative possibilities.
Add-On Options (+$5 each)
● Dish (+ $10) – Your fused tile will go through a second kiln cycle in a mold to create a dish shape. Available in 6”x6” tile only.
● Dichroic *bling (individually priced) – Enhance your piece with a selection of colorful, textured dichroic glass.
● Hanging Hooks (+ $5) – Copper hooks can be added to the back before fusing for easy hanging.

🐾Select & Shape Your Glass – Choose from a variety of colors, shapes, and textures. Break, snap, or cut pieces to layer onto your tile.
🔥Fire & Fuse – YYour tile will spend 15+ hours in the kiln for a contour fuse, adding depth and texture. Keep it flat or choose an add-on for hooks or a dish shape.
📦Pick Up – Your finished piece will be ready for pickup in one week.

What are the accepted payment methods?

What do I wear to the studio?
In the Hotshop
✅Required: Closed-toe shoes (no sandals, open-toed shoes or Crocs).
✅Best Clothing: Fitted, natural fabrics like cotton or cotton blends. Avoid synthetic materials (e.g., fleece, raincoats), as they must be removed while blowing glass.
✅Recommended: Layer up–some areas will be hot, others cold. Jeans and a t-shirt work well. Long sleeves/pants are optional for extra protection.
❌Avoid: Flowy dresses, skirts, scarves (safety hazard).
In the Fusing Studio
✅Required: Closed-toe shoes (no sandals, open-toed shoes or Crocs).
✅Best Clothing: Fitted clothing. Glass cutting can create small shards–avoid low-cut shirts and flowy scarves.

About Handblown Glass
Each glass piece is unique–no two are alike! Expect bubbles and heavier weight than you might anticipate
- ⚠️Care Instructions:
● Hand wash only (glass is not tempered and can’t handle extreme temperature changes).
● Bring outdoor garden art inside during freezing temperatures.
● Use a soft makeup brush (designated just for pumpkin dusting!) to gently remove dust and debris from your pumpkins.

How to BOOK ONLINE

3. Select your preferred date and time – Blue date/time is available to book. You will need to arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time, plan accordingly (i.e., a 9:00am appointment requires an 8:30am arrival).
4. Enter appointment details, and secure your appointment with a card. Payment is due at the time of service – THERE IS NO CHARGE AT BOOKING. To complete your appointment, you must read and agree to the cancellation policy and select “Book appointment”.
PAYMENT:
A credit card is required to book but is NOT automatically charged. Payment is due at the time of service and the accepted in-person forms of payment include; cash, gift card/certificate, Groupon, Visa, Mastercard, AMEX or Discover.

Specialty Workshops
These specialty workshops are a lot like the Glassblowing Experience where you will work one-on-one with a skilled glassblower to create the items.
2-HOUR PUMPKIN WORKSHOP $300+tax
*Seasonal Workshops are offered in the fall and have limited availability*
In this 2-hour workshop you will make 4-5 pumpkins with the help of a skilled glassblower. Workshop registration requires a deposit of $150 +tax (½ of the workshop price), and the remainder is due at the time of service.
Sign-ups begin on June 29th, 2023 please CALL to book.
Registration cannot be done before June
29th nor can they be done via email or online.
These workshops are limited and will fill up quickly.

Specialty Workshops require 2-weeks’ notice for cancellations. In order to receive a full

This year we have made some changes to our Specialty Workshops
If you are familiar with the
(discontinued) 4-Hour Pumpkin Workshop, you may remember how it was done. In previous years, you would be partnered
with another workshop partner (a friend that you scheduled to come with, or another customer that also needed a
workshop partner) taking turns making your pumpkins in one station with one instructor. You would retreat to the
gallery to design your next pumpkin and set up colors while waiting for your turn at the bench.
This year we are organizing our Pumpkin Workshops a little different. You will now work 1:1 with your instructor for the full 2 hours.

Limitations and Specifications:
Workshops cannot be shared with another person. A deposit of ½
of the total cost is due at the time of booking, and the remainder is due at the time of service. If you are
scheduling for yourself and a friend, a deposit will be due for both workshop participants upon scheduling.
Our hotshop is equipped with 3 stations, which means that we can accommodate up to 3 people per session. The largest number of people you can book for is now 3 people per session.

- Patiently wait for a call back by the end of the day

We are no longer offering the Ornament Workshops. Book a Glassblowing Experience year-round to make 2 ornaments for $95 + tax per person. We have spruced up our pattern options as well!

*Cancellation Policy*
For all Specialty Workshops we require two weeks’ notice to fill your spot in order for you to receive a full refund of your deposit. Failure to cancel two weeks in advance will forfeit your deposit or gift certificate.
Requirements
No open toe shoes/sandals, or synthetic materials. Cotton clothing is best.
ABOUT GLASS….
Please remember that while glass is beautiful…. it is not perfect. Your pieces will be unique and will not be without flaws. Color, shape and size variations as well as bubbles are all a normal part of the handblown glass process. While we offer a personalized experience, modifications are limited in order to provide you with quality service and quality glass products. We have procedures in place in the event that one of your glass items crack or break in the glassblowing or annealing process.
